When going back in time doesn’t screw you over

Review: Boku dake ga Inai Machi (ERASED)

vlcsnap-2016-01-15-19h13m43s231-copy

You will rarely find me engrossed in a manga. To date, this has only occurred twice. There are two reasons. One, lazy. Two, I’m sure there are people who can definitely relate to having their anime experiences ruined by poor adaptations of the source material.

So when some scrubs were losing their shit over Boku dake ga Inai Machi (since they already know what could happen from the manga), I was blissfully unaware. Waiting for a new episode every week kept me on edge, sure. At least, my expectations weren’t set as high as the manga readers. Less likely to be disappointed, see?

After getting rid of leftover feels (hah who am I kidding), I went online to read reviews. They were split, almost half-half. The spectrum went from “OMG BEST ANIME EVERRRRRR” to “this sucks [launches into 500-word essay on why]”.

This is going to be the perspective of someone who has not read the manga. Also, if you are looking for a trashing of this anime, sorry buddy but this one is leaning towards the happier side. See that red ‘X’ on the top left of your window? Yup yup, click on it and you’re outta here.

I survived.

Year 2 is done. Gone. Finished. Forever.

…How in the world did I survive?

If you haven’t noticed, I have not posted anything since last year (hue hue). I had intended to continue with my Hong Kong travel diary but school came in and took over my soul time. But now. At the conclusion of this roller coaster ride, I can finally breathe and proudly declare that I have conquered one of the hardest periods of my life.

This semester was notorious for being absolute hell. Both among my cohort and seniors. “Oh it can’t be thaaaaat bad,” you think. WELL YOU THOUGHT WRONG. Six modules for Mass Communication plus three for Interdisciplinary Studies. Each one equally as tough as the others.

Time for good ol’ summaries instead of rambling on and on about the entire semester. This uh… might be boring.

Why are you even reading this???

2015 Roundup

I needed something to wrap up 2015. So here is a list of what made 2015 amazing for me, in no particular order:

  • Became trash for a pun-loving troll of a skeleton
  • Got dunked on 123 times by said skeleton
  • Learnt to slice zombies with a ninja sword
  • Bullshitted my way through trials in the courtroom
  • High-fived Buddha
  • Return of the kings, B.A.P
  • Senpais noticed me!!!!
  • Crying over anime
  • Crying over next year’s anime
  • Survived part 1 and part 2.1 of Year 2 in the polytechnic
  • Miraculously managed to not lose the tiny cover for my phone’s charging point
  • Newfound appreciation for memes
  • Befriended many cats
  • Self-taught swimming and kickass water slides
  • FINALLY got my own personal healthcare assistant
  • Acquired clubbing spirit
  • Understood many truths about the universe
  • SHIT. LANGUAGE.
  • okay but this is legit I had my first lucid dreaming experience not too long ago it was pretty rad
  • I ate a snail
  • And best of all, spent time with family, nerds, scrubs and losers ❤

There’s a lot more where it came from but I don’t remember them. Please excuse my terrible memory.

Happy New Year, everyone. May 2016 be good to you all.

HONG KONG: A New City! (Day 1)

Wandering around the streets on my first day, a realisation dawned upon me. Every sight, every smell, every sound was new, unfamiliar. It was an adventure. But yet, for the many citizens that have resided in Hong Kong their whole lives, would it not be just another day? Mundane, even boring?

For me, my day started in the wee hours of the morning on 21 December. Surprisingly, I wasn’t tired, though I knocked out once our plane took off. Or should I say… SCOOTed off? Hehehehehe…

Fallen Down: Undertale

This post should have been a long time coming. Since the game was released on the 15th of September, I’m obviously late to jump on the bandwagon. Undertale is popular, madly popular, sprouting memes and raving reviews over the net.

Undertale follows the journey of a young human who has fallen underground – into the world of monsters. You control this child, and lead the way to the surface.

Now, I would like to say that I’ve never bought a game from the Steam Store before. Because:

A. I own a Mac.

B. Nothing interests me.

C. Moolah

D. I own a Mac.

Then, little comments here and there started creeping in. “Everyone HAS to play this,” “Personal game of the year,” “The experience is nothing short of magical,” “I feel alive,” “MOM 😦 “. So I took a sneak peek by watching a play-through on YouTube. Then I saw this.
